Biographical Statement 

Claire Dupont is Assistant Professor of European and International Governance. In her research she analyses policy and political responses to the challenge of combating climate change at multiple levels of governance. She is particularly interested in the degree of policy integration among societal and policy objectives over the long-term. Claire successfully defended her PhD on ‘Climate policy integration into the EU’s energy policy’ at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2013. In 2017, she joined the Department of Public Governance at Ghent University.

Originally from Ireland, Claire has lived, studied and worked in France, Germany, Tanzania and the UK before settling in Belgium. She teaches courses in English on the EU. She is also engaged in broader service to the policy and academic communities – notably in her role as a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency.
