Biographical Statement

Janika holds two Bachelor’s Degrees in International Cultural and Business Studies and Public Governance and Policy from the University of Passau. Her first Bachelor’s Degree in ICBS perfectly matched her interests in international politics, culture, and relations between people. She studied with a particular focus on the Anglo-American world. During her studies, she developed a deeper interest in politics and economics; therefore she concurrently studied the second Bachelor’s Degree in Public Governance and Policy. Both courses have given her profound background knowledge which she further deepened by obtaining a Master of Science in Public Policy and Human Development at the Maastricht School of Governance in cooperation with UNU-MERIT.

Her research interests in Democracy and Transformation processes are reflected in her master thesis about Democracy Promotion in the regional context of the ASEAN and the League of Arab States. She was involved in the GR:EEN Project besides writing her thesis. At UNU-CRIS, Janika worked under the supervision of Marieke Zwartjes until August 2013.
