Biographical Statement 

Abeer R.Y. Abazeed is a PhD researcher at the institute of Security and Global Affairs and visiting PhD student in the African Studies Center in Leiden University. Her PhD research tackles the role of civil society in hydropolitics issues in the Eastern Nile Basin.

In Egypt, Abeer is working as assistant lecturer of political science at Faculty of Economics and Political Science in Cairo University.

Abeer holds a BSc of Political Science from Cairo University and a MA degree from the American University in Cairo (AUC), where she focused on the topic 'Aid Harmonization: U.K and Denmark Aid Policies toward Ghana and Tanzania: (2005-2010)'. Further to this, she obtained a diploma in Public Policy and Administration from the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) in AUC.

Her primary research interest is international political economy and she has published articles in Arabic journals in this field. Civic engagement is her current research interest that derived from her engagement in Egyptian civil society organizations.
