Biographical Statement 

Andrea Cofelice was a PhD candidate in Political Science – Comparative and European Politics at the University of Siena. His research dealt with international parliamentary institutions in a global and comparative perspective. He was also a junior researcher at the Interdepartmental Centre on Human Rights and the Rights of Peoples of the University of Padua. He holds a BA in International Relations and Human Rights and a MA in Institutions and Policies of Human Rights and Peace from the University of Padua (Faculty of Political Science).

His research interests focus on comparative politics, international democracy, international parliamentary institutions, international human rights institutions, global governance and human rights policies.

During his time at UNU-CRIS, he explored the impact of different forms of regional integration on the empowerment of international parliamentary institutions, as well as the European Union’s engagement with African (sub) regional parliaments. He worked under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Kingah until December 2011.
