Arla Mannersuo is currently working toward a master’s degree in Political Science at Universiteit Leiden with a specialisation in the dynamics of international policy-making. Prior to commencing her graduate studies, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in International Studies with honours from Universiteit Leiden.
Her previous research interests include the root causes and consequences of intrastate conflict and sectarian politics in the Middle East and North Africa region. More recently, she has focused on migration policy in the EU and the politics of the global refugee regime.
During her three months’ internship at UNU-CRIS, Arla will be joining The Role of Regions in Global Governance research programme and support research activities focused on the implementation of assisted return migration programmes in the EU Member States, under the supervision of Professor Ine Lietaert.
