Egeljin Munkhzul started her virtual internship on 1 April 2021. Egeljin obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in European Studies, with a specialisation in Europe-Asia relations from KU Leuven. She is currently doing a Master's degree in Political Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Her theses covered the changing dynamics between major powers such as China, the United States, Russia, and their impacts on the global order. Over time, she developed a keen interest in issues related to the Asia-Pacific region, the Belt and Road Initiative, the Atlantic community and global governance.
Aside from her studies, she acquired experience in coordinating an EU-funded project on deeper connectivity with Asia. She carried out this internship at a consulting company under the guidance of the European Commission and the European External Action Service. She supported the implementation of the communication strategy for the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting.
During her four months internship at UNU-CRIS, Egeljin assisted Glenn Rayp and Samuel Standaert in cooperation with IDEA Consult on a research project on monitoring SDG performance in Flanders. She assisted in data collection, statistical analysis, and paper drafting.
