Fredrik Söderbaum is an Associate Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS since 2006. He is an Associate Professor at the School of Global Studies at the University of Gothenburg. He is Member of editorial board of African Security (Routledge) and the editorial board of the book series International Political Economy of the New Regionalisms (Ashgate).
He received a BA in Government, Public Administration and Economics from Lund University, an MA in Political Science from Lund University and a PhD in Peace and Development Studies from University of Gothenburg.
His main research interests include: new regionalism, comparative regionalism, global governance and interregionalism, EU’s role in the world, African studies, governance and the quality of government.
