Biographical Statement

During his part-time virtual internship at UNU-CRIS, Giuseppe Davide Germinario will primarily work on the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) study under the supervision of Glenn Rayp within the Economic and Political Interactions Cluster. His research will focus on conducting a critical review of the literature to analyse differences in product classifications across related frameworks (EUTR, LAA, ILP, SUT), assessing monitoring practices by national competent authorities, and exploring how non-tariff barriers affect trade flows.

He pursued the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Economics of Globalisation and European Integration (EMJM-EGEI), studying at Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro (Italy), Ghent University (Belgium), and Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Chile). His academic interests include international trade, industrial development, and the role of regulatory frameworks in shaping sustainable global value chains.

Davide has gained professional experience at the European Central Bank and is currently employed as a Junior Cluster & Financing Expert at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. In these roles, he contributed to projects on financial resilience, industrial competitiveness, and MSME development, combining quantitative analysis with policy-oriented research. At UNU-CRIS, his work on the EUTR contributes to understanding how trade and environmental policies interact, particularly in relation to sustainable resource use and market access.
