Casier, Kato
Kato Casier is a research intern at UNU-CRIS. She recently graduated in the Master’s degree in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies at Ghent University. For her Master’s thesis, Kato investigated the perspectives of internship supervisors in the Global South on achieving reciprocal partnerships in international internships.
Throughout her educational career, Kato has developed an interest in migration through various lectures and her internship at the Dunkirk refugee camp on the French border with the organization ‘Mobile Refugee Support’, which gave an inside at the complex migration policy. She also gained some practical social work skills through an international internship at a school in The Gambia and as a job student at a hospital social service in Ghent.
During her internship at UNU-CRIS, Kato will work under the supervision of Ine Lietaert within the Migration and Social Policy Cluster. Kato will primarily work on a project of Caritas International Belgium in which they are looking at strengthening capacities for return and reintegration counselling through civil society organizations. Kato is looking forward to learning from her mentor and immersing herself in the topic of return en reintegration of migrants.
