Biographical Statement 

Killian Conyngham started his virtual internship at UNU-CRIS on 15 March 2021. He is an Ad Astra Academic Scholar at University College Dublin, and completed his undergraduate degree there in a Joint Major of Economics and Statistics. Killian has extensive qualitative and quantitative research skills.

He worked as part of the data team at the UCD Foundation where he was responsible for the database and ensuring GDPR compliance. He is also a section editor at the UCD Observer newspaper. He has previously done work for companies such as Direction Research and NITRO PDF and has experience programming in R, STATA, Python and more.

During his 4 month internship at UNU-CRIS Killian worked under the supervision of Philippe De Lombaerde in cooperation with Dominik Naeher and Takfarinas Saber (University College Dublin) on a project entitled "Evaluating accession decisions in customs unions: A machine-learning approach". As part of this project he assisted in data collection, statistical analysis, paper drafting and the communication of results.
