Biographical Statement 

Maria Ioannou, during her virtual communication internship at UNU-CRIS, worked under the guidance of Andrew Dunn. Her primary responsibilities included enhancing the institute's social media presence and contributing to communications and policy review. Maria also assisted in the copyediting and dissemination of research outputs, while curating content for the institute's social media platforms.

Maria has a background in European Affairs and International Relations from Lund University and is currently pursuing her second MSc in Sustainability Science and Environmental Decision-Making. She brings extensive international experience, having served as a Blue Book trainee at the European Environment Agency and interned with multiple UN agencies, including UNDP, WHO, and UNAIDS, in Copenhagen, Istanbul, and Geneva, respectively.

During her diverse tenures engaging in multiple assignments within the EU and UN institutions, Maria has primarily worked with policy research on sustainability transitions, justice in adaptation, quality assurance, and strategic communications.
