Nanditha Mathew joined UNU-CRIS as a Professorial Fellow in January 2025, where she will contribute to the Economic Interactions cluster. She also holds a position as an Adjunct Professor at the Brussels School of Governance, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, associated with the BA programme in Global Business and Entrepreneurship.
Nanditha is affiliated and closely works with UNU-MERIT, the Enrico Fermi Research Center in Rome, and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa. She earned her PhD in Economics from the University of Pisa in 2016.
Nanditha’s research focuses on the microeconomics of innovation and development, with particular emphasis on firm capabilities, performance, and industrial policy. Her work has been published in leading international journals, including Research Policy, Industrial and Corporate Change, and the Journal of Evolutionary Economics.
Since June 2022, Nanditha has acted as an “Eminent Policy Advisor” to the Government of Kerala, where she has provided expert policy guidance to various ministries, including the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Industries, and the Ministry of Local Self-Government
