Garcia, Maria
Maria Garcia is Senior Lecturer in Politics, Languages and International Studies at the University of Bath, UK. She does research and lectures on international political economy and international trade politics at the University of Bath. Her core areas of expertise are the politics of trade, EU trade policy and the promotion of norms and regulations through preferential trade agreements. Her current projects include a book on the divergent free trade agreement strategies of large (China, USA, EU) and small economies (Singapore, Chile, New Zealand) in Asia-Pacific and their effects on the development of future economic governance in the region. She is also working on lessons to be drawn for a future UK trade policy from the trade agreement strategies of medium and small states in the Asia-Pacific., and leading a project with colleagues at the Universities of Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter, engaging regional businesses to investigate business reactions to the UK's withdrawal from the EU.
