Cau, Giulia

Giulia is a Master’s graduate in Modern European and American Languages and Literature - Cultural Cooperation and Mediation. She has worked and volunteered in different international non-governmental organisations focusing on migration, intercultural communication, cooperation and cultural diplomacy.

Her final thesis, The challenges of (the new) migration in the area of Cagliari: Berry, Hofstede and Meinig as operative tools, analysed the recent Mediterranean migration flow and its cultural consequences. During her dissertation, she examined migration patterns and data and built an experimental cultural process analysis model in order to investigate locals and migrants acculturation attitudes living in the aforementioned area.

During her Bachelor’s Degree she attended, as an Erasmus student, the Vilnius University in Lithuania for a semester, and then graduated one year later in Languages and Communication at the University of Cagliari. After completing her Master’s Degree, she participated at a Spring School at the University of Malta concerning the Mediterranean Imaginaries: Arts, Culture and Literature, before living in Berlin for a short term Erasmus internship.

At UNU-CRIS Giulia’s internship was under the research programme ‘the Changing Patterns of Regional and Global Governance’ under the supervision of Madeleine Hosli until February 2019.
