Garland, Megan

Megan Garland completed her Peace Corps term serving for two years in Dilijan, Armenia as a Community and Youth Development volunteer. Her work in Armenia included grant writing, organisational development, as well as developing and implementing community programmes, such as business development and youth leadership. She also acted as a committee member for the USAID Armenia Small Grants board, and as a Project Design and Management trainer.

Prior to moving to Armenia, she worked in fundraising with Mercy Corps in the United States, as well as completed her Master of Public Administration at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) focussed on programme development, proposal writing, data analysis, and monitoring and evaluation. During her education years, Megan also studied in China four times, and has been the recipient of the prestigious Boren Scholarship as well as completed the Chinese Language Flagship Certification. Her undergraduate degree was completed at the University of Oregon, with degrees in International Diplomacy and Chinese.

At UNU-CRIS, she interned for three months as a Grant Acquisition Intern under the supervision of Andrew Dunn and Philippe De Lombaerde. She developed a database for funding opportunities, screening funding opportunities, acting as a liaison between UNU-CRIS staff and external funding bodies, and drafting applications with UNU-CRIS staff.
