Pagès, Tancrède

Tancrède Pagès is a PhD Fellow with UNU-CRIS label who will work under the supervision of Dr. Robin Vandevoordt, Assistant Professor in Migration and Refugee Studies at CESSMIR, Ghent University. He focuses on alternative practices and articulations of citizenship in European cities. More specifically, he is investigating the nexus between migrant solidarity movements and municipal policy in Rome and Paris.

He holds a BA in History from the New School and graduated Judicium Cum Laude from the Research Master programme in Modern History and International Relations at the University of Groningen. In the past, he has focused on the relationality of hospitality in past and present migrant sanctuary movements in North America and Europe. His master’s thesis expanded upon the normative dimensions that the practice of sanctuary in squats across various European cities has in relation to the concept of cosmopolitanism.

Prior to his PhD position, Tancrède was a lecturer at the Department of International Relations and International Organization (IRIO) at the University of Groningen. Besides teaching, he was a research assistant in two distinct projects; the first focused on psychiatric practices in colonial East Africa which included an archival research trip at Lutindi Mental Hospital in Tanzania; the second was focused on the governance and regulation of defence industries in the European Union.
