Biographical Statement
Barbara Pesce-Monteiro is the Director of UNDP's Representation Office in Brussels. She is also the UN Secretary-General's Representative towards the EU and the Belgian authorities.
Before her current appointment, she was the UN Resident Coordinator in Cuba for 4 years. From 1990-2010, she worked with UNDP in Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Angola, and Mexico. In addition, she covered the Sahel with UNCDF. She holds a Master’s degree in Rural Development Planning (UK), and completed her degree in International Political Science at La Sapienza University (IT).
