Eric Piaget is a PhD Fellow at UNU-CRIS, exploring the rich yet underexamined intersection of public diplomacy and science diplomacy. His research focuses on how these dynamics play out within the rotational leadership mechanisms of multilateral regional organizations.
In addition to this, Eric serves as the Science Diplomacy Coordinator for the EUTOPIA European University Alliance, where he leads initiatives that bridge the worlds of science and diplomacy. His work also examines the role of universities and their alliances in shaping international relations.
Before joining UNU-CRIS, Eric worked for the Swedish Ambassador to Belgium and as Sweden’s assistant coordinator for the Committee of Permanent Representatives at the Council of the EU. His previous experience includes summarizing EU legislation for the Publications Office of the EU, researching international development and climate policy at the think tank Friends of Europe, and advocating for marginalized communities at the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization. He has also assisted in teaching at the VUB and worked as a freelance editor for clients such as the World Bank.
