Dribek, Yossri
Yossri Dribek is a research intern at UNU-CRIS. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Finance (2018-2021) from the University of Sfax, Tunisia and a Master's degree (M1) in International Economics, Finance and Modeling (2022). Consistently at the top of his class, he was awarded an Eiffel Excellence Scholarship from Campus France to pursue a Master's degree in International Economics (2022-2024) at the University of Orléans, France.
Yossri is passionate about international trade, climate change, and environmental issues, with a solid foundation in data analysis and econometrics. He completed a research internship in data collection on political parties, elections, and economic development in European countries at the Laboratoire d'Économie d'Orléans (LEO). For his Master's thesis, he investigated climate change perception and migration aspirations in Africa using Afrobarometer datasets. He also examined climatic conditions and illegal migration using Arab Barometer survey data. This work aligned with his internship as a research analyst at LEM Lille Économie Management, University of Lille, France.
From conducting impactful research at economics laboratories to representing the Europe Verte movement and collaborating with Theirworld on global youth education, Yossri has consistently pursued opportunities to effect positive change.
Currently, he is undertaking a research internship at UNU-CRIS in international trade and regional integration under the supervision of Samuel Standaert within the RIKS Cluster. The project aims to apply a more developed gravity model to historical trade datasets, examining how distance and globalization have affected trade over an extended period. His responsibilities include data collecting and merging, conducting literature reviews, running estimations, and writing a comprehensive report on the findings and results.
