Biographical Statement

Anna is currently completing her degree in Psychology at Northumbria University. Throughout her studies, she gained experience across a variety of fields related to human cognition, mental health, social identity and behaviour, which is highly relevant in researching climate change impact on public well-being.

During her research internship at UNU-CRIS, Anna primarily worked on investigating the intersection between natural disasters and public health under the supervision of Santosh Vijaykumar and Nidhi Nagabhatla within the Nature, Climate and Health Cluster. Specifically she researched the effect heat waves and temperature abnormalities have on mental health, focusing on present region-specific issues and finding potential solutions fit to tackle individual problems. This project was focused on synthesising available evidence to identify current literature gaps to help provide a framework for future research and developments. Additionally, Anna evaluated the effectiveness of some currently existing tools in measuring public perceptions of informational availability concerning natural disasters, mitigation strategies and available aid.
