Citizenship and Mobility

Set against the broader challenges of migration governance experienced across the world, the workshop encourages reflection on the tensions between national sovereignty and transnational mobility, exclusionary and hierarchical citizenship reforms, the persistence illegalisation of mobility, and the limits of international cooperation despite global legal frameworks. We also welcome contributions that connect citizenship to regional, national or multi-level governance, including community micro forms, the internationalisation of social policy, and the colonial and historical legacies that continue to shape belonging and exclusion.
By bringing together researchers from different backgrounds, the workshop aims to foster dialogue, identify shared analytical perspectives from macro to micro citizenship acts, and build connections across disciplines and institutions around the relationship between citizenship and migration.
