Dr. Iapadre, Lelio
P. Lelio Iapadre is an Associate Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS. He is Full Professor of Applied Economics at the University of L’Aquila, where he is University Delegate for Strategic Planning and Local Development. He obtained a PhD in Economics at the University of Rome “Sapienza” and studied Economics of European Integration at the London School of Economics.
He is Faculty Member in the PhD School in Economics and Finance, University of Rome “Sapienza”. He is Member of the Centre for Economic and Social Research “Manlio Rossi-Doria”, Centre of Excellence, Roma Tre University and Corresponding Member of the Turin Centre on Emerging Economies, Collegio Carlo Alberto, University of Turin.
He has taught at the University of Rome “Sapienza” and at the Johns Hopkins University, SAIS Bologna Center and in the LUISS Summer School on International Trade: Law and Economics.
He is member of the Italian delegation in the OECD Committee on Industry, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Working Party on Industry Analysis) and in the OECD Trade Committee.
He is the scientific editor of the Italian Trade Agency’s annual report “Italy in the International Economy”.
He served as chief economist in the National Institute of Foreign Trade (ICE) and as an advisor to the Italian Minister of Foreign Trade. He also acted as a consultant for Istat, Svimez, the Bangladesh Institute for Development Studies and several international institutions, including the European Commission, OECD, UNCTAD, UNIDO, and the World Bank Institute.
His research interests concern several aspects of international economic integration, including trade and industrial organization, with particular reference to the relationship between globalization, innovation and local development.
