Biographical Statement 

Alexandra-Maria Bocse completed a PhD in International Relations at University of Cambridge. She previously graduated as a valedictorian from the University of Bucharest with a BA in Political Science. Alexandra is particularly interested in regional security and global governance. Her research focussed on the formation and dynamics of transnational advocacy networks.

While an undergrad, Alexandra worked as a trainee at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations Development Programme and the British Embassy in Bucharest. During her postgraduate studies, she was involved with the American think-tank RAND in analysing different policy networks in the East of England and in making recommendations for improving their policy output. Alexandra is also an Associate Editor at the Cambridge Review of International Affairs and an Outreach Director at the Romanian Journal of Political Science.

During her time at UNU-CRIS, she explored the degree of integration displayed by the main energy security players in the Black Sea Region. In addition, she was involved in the UNU-CRIS project ATRIUM aiming to assess the extent of the power shift from the Atlantic to the Pacific and the increasing role of the South in global governance. In this regard, she worked under the supervision of Dr. Luk Van Langenhove and Francis Baert until March 2012.
