Biographical Statement 

Paola Pozo Garcia is currently following her Master´s Degree in Globalization and Development at the University of Antwerp, focusing on proper institutional framework for MSME´s as economic and social development engines in developing countries. Before that, she obtained a Bachelor´s degree in Financial Engineering at the Catholic University of Bolivia under the Business School of Production and Competitiveness, focused in the entrepreneurship and economic area as a global issue with additional socio-political and numerical subjects from Economics. Her Bachelor thesis focused on the evaluation of a Closed-End Fund for SME´s where she became highly interested in the importance of MSME´s role´s in economic development in developing countries.

Paola focuses more in institutions at local, national and international level, their good governance and proper cooperation from the national, to regional and closing in the international integration for a dynamic economic and social development. Moreover, the importance of the creation of an adequate national and international framework, where institutions can interact properly to offer opportunities in their area of influence is one of her main interests. 

During her three-month internship at UNU-CRIS, Paola will work under the supervision of Glenn Rayp and contribute to the trade and investment cluster of UNU-CRIS. Her research focuses on the impact of regional integration on MSME´s in Latin America where she will contribute with the comparative analysis of regional agreements, as MERCOSUR, Andean Pact, SICA and the different impacts they had in the micro, small and medium enterprises. Secondly she will contribute with a policy proposal, looking to contribute to proper regional integration that lead to international integration of developing countries.
