Teeuwen, Stephanie
Stephanie Teeuwen is a PhD Fellow in the research cluster on Digital Governance at UNU-CRIS and a PhD researcher at the Centre for Digitalisation, Democracy and Innovation (CD2I) at the Brussels School of Governance at the VUB, under supervision of Jamal Shahin and Clément Perarnaud.
She holds MA and MPA degrees from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (2023) and a BA in International Studies from Dickinson College (2020). She previously worked on internet governance, data policy and AI governance in the Netherlands and in California.
She is working on the ICANN funded project ‘Digital Sovereigns in a Non-Sovereign internet: A Cautionary Tale’ (DSNS-ACT). This project, led by Jamal Shahin, aims to map out the meanings of digital sovereignty by listening to stakeholders from spaces globally and reflect on what this implies for the functioning of the open Internet. Her PhD research focuses on digital sovereignty claims.
