Biographical Statement 

Dr. Sven Van Kerckhoven is Professorial Fellow at UNU-CRIS. He is also a Professor in Business and Economics at the Brussels School of Governance, Vrije Universiteit Brussel where he also serves as Vice-Dean for Education. Sven Van Kerckhoven obtained his PhD in Business Economics: Political Economy at the KU Leuven. He was a visiting researcher at Stanford University, and a Rutherford Fellow at the University of Warwick.

He researches the governance of the global economy, with a specific focus on trade and finance. Sven is particularly interested in how both these areas are shaped by specific governance arrangements.  He has worked on projects from the European Commission, the Committee of the Regions and the Belgian government, and has published in a wide variety of international outlets. He is currently working on a Jean Monnet project on ‘the economics of European (dis)integration’. He supports the UNU-CRIS cluster on Trade and Investment.
