Khalaf, Tarik
During his internship, Tarik was enrolled in a Master’s programme of Political Science at the Free University of Berlin, where he also passed his Bachelor’s degree with a research on “The Promotion of Good Governance in Post-Conflict States”. His research interests include: Failed states, Post-Conflict States, Civil Society, Democracy Promotion, Middle East Studies together with the role of the European Union in light of these issues.
Tarik already performed several internships at national institutions namely the German Embassy in Tokyo as well as at the Lower House of German Parliament in Berlin where he dealt with Common Foreign Security Policy and the European Neighbourhood Policy within the scope of the Arab revolutions.
He wrote his Master’s thesis on the conflicting priorities of internal and external Democracy Building with a case study on Egypt.
At UNU-CRIS, Tarik took part in the Peace and Security Programme working under the supervision of Professor Ademola Abass until the end of April 2012. He primarily dealth with the role of the EU, the UN and the Arab League towards Peace and Security in the Arab world.
