Garcia, Thiago
Thiago Garcia studied a Master’s in Public Policy and Human Development at the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance / United Nations University, where he specialised in multilevel-governance and international development law. He is an environmental engineer and holds a Master of Business Administration in Project Management from IBS/Fundação Getulio Vargas.
He was temporarily licensed from his work at CEMIG Generation and Transmission S.A. (Minas Gerais, Brazil), where he worked as environmental policy analyst. He also had experience at governmental institutions as former president of the Technical Chamber of Management Instruments, a technical chamber at the State Council of Water Resources of the state of Minas Gerais – Brazil (From September/2009 to August/2012).
In his thesis, he focussed on multi-level aspects of environmental governance structure by analysing the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects.
As an intern at UNU-CRIS, Thiago contributed to the research project “Poverty Reduction and Regional Integration: a Comparative Analysis of SADC and UNASUR Health Policies” under the supervision of Stephen Kingah until mid-August 2014. His research interests include development policies and government decentralisation.
