Biographical Statement 

Zhang Song received her Bachelor’s Degree in Malay Social and Cultural Studies from Beijing Foreign Studies University - China in 2012. During her undergraduate study, she spent a semester in University of Malaya for Malay Studies through an exchange programme and undertook a field work in the rural areas of Malaysia. Her articles of Malaysian rural education policies have been published in the Contemporary Education Journal in China.

She completed her Master's Degree in ASEAN Studies at University of Malaya - Malaysia with sponsorship of China Scholarship Council. Prior to her studies in Malaysia, she participated in the L.L.M programme of International Law in the Law School of Beijing Foreign Studies University while working as a part-time lecturer of Malay-Chinese Translation Course. In Jun 2013, she took part in a EU Law Summer Programme in Yeditepe University, Turkey.

At UNU-CRIS, she worked under the supervision of Dr. Lurong Chen until 27 June 2014. Her research interest include the integration process of ASEAN, social welfare and the free flow of labour. She also worked on issues related to the social welfare for the foreign labours in ASEAN, especially in Singapore and Malaysia.
