Communications Intern

Tasks

On offer with this internship is the chance to gain experience in an international team working to produce policy-relevant research on some of the most pressing issues of our time. Working closely with the Communications Officer, the successful applicant will assist in the dissemination of research, publicising events and other engagements, and spreading our work as far and wide as possible, using all channels at their disposal. This will include drafting publication and event announcements, participating in the management and production of content for social media and the UNU-CRIS website, copyediting academic output and the Connecting Ideas blog, collaborating on the bi-monthly newsletter, and other related tasks as they appear. The successful candidate will also report on events at our premises in Bruges and at our partners in Brussels and Gent, along with covering the UNU Simulation Game in April 2020, as students and researchers from across the UNU network simulate COP negotiations at the UN Campus in Bonn.

Giving a voice to the work of UNU-CRIS and finding the right platforms to share it is, in summation, the underlying task of the successful applicant during their time with us in Bruges.

Profile

The candidate must have a university education with a background in communications, ideally at master’s level, and an excellent command of English. As this is an institute focussed on international relations, the candidate should have a demonstrable interest in the field, with a degree in the field an advantage.

  • A native (or near-native) command of the English language;
  • Strong writing skills (ability to write concisely and quickly);
  • An eye for detail;
  • Autonomy and initiative;
  • Open-minded and ability to work in a team;
  • Knowledge of graphic design (Photoshop/InDesign), video production (Adobe Premier Pro/Rush) or web management (Drupal) is a plus.
