Elke Boers holds a Master degree in East European Studies and Slavic Languages from the Catholic University of Leuven. During her studies, she participated in an exchange programme with the Russian Federation and studied for one semester at the Kuban State University in Krasnodar. The following semester she went on Erasmus to Poland, Wroclaw. Elke also received scholarships to take part in two summer courses in Poland, where most topics were dedicated to communication and international cooperation.
After this, she obtained a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy at the University of Antwerp. During that year, she did an internship at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris at the Science Policy and Partnership Building Sector. She was placed under the Science Diplomacy Programme, after which she decided to dedicate her thesis subject to national and international approaches to Science Diplomacy.
At UNU-CRIS she works for the EU-funded H2020 project ‘European Leadership in Cultural, Science and Innovation Diplomacy’ (EL-CSID).
