Biographical Statement 

Jaffar Abbas was a research intern at UNU-CRIS. Jaffar holds a Masters in Sustainability, Society and the Environment (SSE) from the University of Kiel, Germany and a Bachelors in Environmental Engineering from NUST, Pakistan. His Master's Thesis was on Culture and Climate Communication in Pakistan, which was funded by the ERASMUS+ Traineeship Grant and conducted at the University of Groningen, Netherlands.

During his Masters, Jaffar held various stints working part-time as a Research Assistant for Environmental Politics, Climate Resilience and Microplastics, as well as an Internship for Climate Communication with the Shift and WWF-Belgium in Brussels. Jaffar also has experience in organising training and seminars for climate change awareness in Pakistan, through his positions as an Officer for WWF Pakistan, the President of his Universities environment club and by founding his own environmental education initiative called 'Ductus Exemplo'.

Jaffar interned under the supervision of Ine Lietaert in the Migration and Social Policy Cluster, with a focus on Climate-Induced Migrations caused by the 2022 Floods in Pakistan.
