Biographical Statement 

Jill Alpes is a research associate at the Nijmegen Centre for Border Research and works as a research consultant at Coopetic in Paris. She worked at Amnesty International from 2015 to 2017 and completed her Ph.D. in legal anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. In 2017, she published “Abroad at any cost: Brokering High-risk migration and illegality in West Africa” (Routledge). She is a member of the UN Migration Network’s Working Group on Returns, as well as of the advisory board of the Post-Return Monitoring Network.
