Bruges

This research seminar takes place at the UNU-CRiS Premises on Thursday, 28 March 2024 from 11.00 until 12.30.

This article explores the evolving foreign policy landscape of Central Asian states amidst the shifting paradigms of a changing international order, particularly in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine War and ensuing international sanctions. It scrutinizes the adaptive strategies of Central Asian nations within the framework of sanctions diplomacy, against the backdrop of the diminishing liberal international order and the advent of weaponized interdependence. Employing the small states theory, this study examines the strategic maneuverings of these nations as they navigate the pressures from major global powers.
