Biographical Statement 

Peter has a background in environmental research on Ecological System Analyses (MSc. 1996, PhD candidate 1996-1999, KU Leuven BE). His professional challenge is to connect science and policy. On a broad range of regional and EU projects (1999-2012), involving Foresight, Road Mapping, Horizon Scanning, Behavioural Insights and Integrated Assessment, Peter worked together with experts and stakeholders towards achieving a common understanding of unsustainable trends, offering scenarios, visions and integrated solutions to support policy makers.

Peter is committed to lifelong learning, including professional academic training: International Negotiations (2022) at Clingendael (NL); Behavioural Science (2018) at Warwick Business School (UK); Earth System Governance (2009) at Free University of Amsterdam (NL), Strategic Roadmapping (2006) at University of Cambridge (UK), Integrated Assessment (2004) at University of Osnabruck (DE) and Project Management (2003) at University of Antwerp Management School (BE). Peter is also a guest lecturer in policy analysis, behavioural insights and strategic foresight.

Peter currently works as director Strategic Insights & Analyses at the Chancellery and Foreign Office Department of the Flemish administration. In his previous assignment (2013-2016) he helped to establish the EU policy lab at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
