Biographical Statement 

Sonja obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich with a special focus on Practical Ethics and International Law. She has also obtained a Master’s Degree in Political Science at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.

She interned at UNU-CRIS for a period of six month working under the supervision of Professor Ademola Abass on the difficulties of the implementation of the R2P’s pillar III in case the Security Council is blocked by veto. She also prepared a paper under the supervision of Luk Van Langenhove out of selected working papers of the GR:EEN research project. She analysed determinants of regional leadership, compared and combined research results and figured out problems and possible implications.

Her further research interests include the right to self-determination and the international human rights protection.
