Biographical Statement 

Anne-Sophie Coppens holds a Master of Sciences in International Politics and a Master of Sciences in Sociology, both obtained at the University of Ghent. For six months, during her sociology studies, she was an exchange student at the University of Bologna, Italy. She wrote her thesis in International Politics about the energy security of the European Union, and the influence of the EU on the gas relations between Russia and Ukraine.

Her main research interests are energy relations, European politics, Russian politics and Russia’s relation with the former USSR-states. At UNU-CRIS, she was supervised by Luk Van Langenhove, Léonie Maes and Pascale Vantorre until the end of June 2014. She assisted UNU-CRIS in managing the website and social media, organising events and in reviewing a Dutch manuscript.
