Biographical Statement 

Annelies Van Riet is currently pursuing a degree in Public Administration and Public Management at Ghent University. She recently completed a five-month Erasmus exchange program in Berlin, where she focused on international public policy and global issues. This experience deepened her understanding of complex global challenges and strengthened her interest in European and international governance. 

Throughout her academic journey, Annelies has been committed to addressing global issues such as climate change and poverty. Her involvement in the non-profit organization Benefiet Haiti, where she helps organize fundraising events, has further deepened her dedication to sustainable development and social equity. These experiences have shaped her passion for contributing to global solutions.

During her research internship at UNU-CRIS, Annelies Van Riet will primarily work on preparing two policy briefs on Localizing the SDGs under the supervision of Philippe De Lombaerde within the Re-LAB Cluster. In collaboration with a fellow student, she will examine the concept of localizing the Sustainable Development Goals, explore practical tools for implementation, and highlight best practices.
