Chima Hernandez, Fernanda
Fernanda Chima Hernandez was a virtual research intern at UNU-CRIS and a student of the Master of Sciences in Economics of Globalization and European Integration at Ghent University. In 2023, she completed the Master of Sciences in Applied Economics from Xi’an Jiaotong University by investigating empirical evidence of cross-country innovation effects on global inequality.
Fernanda is deeply committed to reducing economic inequalities, a passion driven by her on-site experiences on informal waste management in Africa and rural development in Mexico. Side by side with economic research, she has over 6 years of experience as part-time education program coordinator for UNESCO Center for Peace, Huawei, and several universities in China.
During her virtual internship at UNU-CRIS, she worked under the supervision of Glenn Rayp and Samuel Standaert as part of the Economic Interactions Cluster. She primarily worked on descriptive statistics for the EU Regulation No 995/2010 on timber and timber products on the market as well as reporting empirical data of amending Regulations (EU) 168/2013, (EU) 2018/858, 2018/1724.
