Michael, Louisa

Louisa Michael is the new communication intern at UNU-CRIS. She is a communications professional, with a bachelor’s degree in Development Communications from the University of Ghana and a master’s degree in Development Policy with a major in Sustainable Development from the Korean Development Institute of Public Policy and Management in South Korea.

Louisa is passionate about using communications as a tool to drive sustainable development and social impact. She believes in the power of communication, storytelling, and advocacy to raise awareness, gather support, and achieve multi-stakeholder engagement to drive positive change. Her development interests include security, climate action, public health, food security, youth empowerment, and women’s rights.

Prior to joining UNU-CRIS, Louisa worked as the Communication Affairs Intern at the United Nations Security Sector Reform Unit, within the UN Department of Peace Operations in New York. In this role, she was responsible for the development, launch, and daily operations of the first United Nations system-wide website and X channel on security sector reform and governance, along with a weekly newsletter in English and French. At the beginning of her career, she also gained valuable experience in advertising and marketing working for Publicis Groupe, where she managed multi-national 360 advertising campaigns for Nestle brands across five markets in Central West Africa - Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana, Côte D’Ivoire, and Cameroon.

At UNU-CRIS under the supervision of Andrew Dunn, she focuses on digital communications, including managing social media platforms, creating multimedia content, and enhancing the visibility of events, research publications, and other diverse initiatives. Additionally, she contributes to editing, proofreading, and formatting publications for UNU-CRIS.
