Luk Van Langenhove is Chairing the Roundtable on European Cultural and Science Diplomacy: Policy Demands and Challenges, Brussels, 12 May 2016

12 May 2016

The first EL-CSID dissemination event is organised to officially launch the project to the public. It aims at presenting the EL-CSID research agenda to the academic and policy communities as well as at gaining insights into the stakeholders’ views and expectations. This early discussion will help the EL-CSID consortium further refine its perspectives on cultural, science and diplomacy and ensure the academic and policy relevance of its agenda.

To these ends, the first session of the event is a roundtable discussion that will provide room for interaction among the EL-CSID researchers and EU officials and policy-makers.

Luk Van Langenhove, Director UNU-CRIS and Scientific Coordinator of the EL-CSID Project, is chairing the Roundtable on "European Cultural and Science Diplomacy: Policy Demands and Challenges".

The roundtable discussion will address the following four topics:

  • To what extent can Cultural and Science Diplomacy enhance the interests of the EU in the context of the contemporary world order?
  • What are the current Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of the EU’s Cultural and Science Diplomacy?
  • What would be needed to maximise the impact of the EU’s Cultural and Science Diplomacy?
  • What can/should research on the EU’s Cultural and Science Diplomacy contribute?
