Collaborating with Future Earth Taipei Risk Working Group, the UNU Climate Resilience Project, invites you to join the joint webinar discussion navigating DRR solutions for floods in Asia. To be held on July 4 2022, the conversation will focus on the Asian Pacific region.

As per the  International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)  more than 57 million were affected by climate disasters across the Asia Pacific in 2021. The region experienced severe unpredictable climate-related disasters in 2021, including flooding affecting millions during the peak of the global pandemic. Many countries in the region share water resources and have cross-border agreements to manage annual and seasonal water dynamics, however the climate change extreme events have added an extra layer of challenges, needing a collective effort to design 'fit-to-purpose solutions'.

In this one-hour dialogue forum, scholars from Taiwan and South Asia will share and discuss their experience with the state-of-the-art flood modeling and early-warning systems for flood risks management and the importance of community/citizen engagement and green infrastructure in climate resilience building.
