Nidhi Nagabhatla will deliver a keynote address at the International Conference “Nature-based solutions (NBS) for improvement of water quality and river basin management” on 26-27 October 2022, Riga, Latvia

Experts will discuss the role of Nature-based Solutions (NBS) and ecosystem services approach in improving the ecological quality of water bodies and share experiences and lessons learned from the application of these measures in rural areas.
Coordinated by the Latvian Environment, Geology, and Meteorology Center, it calls for a holistic approach to nature conservation and environmental challenges using the multifunctionality of wetlands.
Nidhi’s talk is titled: ’NBS and Ecosystem Services Frameworks Towards Reforming the Conventional Water Governance Agenda’: “Crossing the Barriers to Water Security”
She will join experts from other European countries and the region (Sweden. Finland, Latvia, Belgium, and others to contribute to the discourse on water and rural economy, nature-based approaches to flood management, strategic planning and implementing measures for improvement of water quality, water- agriculture-forest nexus, the role of riparian buffer zones in agricultural catchments, multi-scale water flow dynamics in various water use sectors and ecosystem service approach to assessing the impact of the nature-based solution on the aquatic ecosystem
