Biographical Statement 

Thomas Dörfler is a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of International Relations. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Bamberg, Germany and an MA with distinction from Leiden University, the Netherlands. His PhD dissertation has received the 2018 Hans-Löwel-Prize and the 2017 Dissertation Award of the UN Association of Germany. Previously, he has been a postdoctoral researcher in the ERC-Project DELPOWIO at the Chair of European and Global Governance at TUM School of Governance. He also was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)-UNU Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the UNU Centre for Policy Research, a visiting scholar at John-Jay College of Criminal Justice (City University of New York) and a consultant for the Security Council Affairs Division of the UN Secretariat.

Thomas has published in leading international peer-reviewed journals including Regulation & Governance, Journal of International Relations and Development, Global Governance, Terrorism & Political Violence, Journal of Economic Policy Reform, as well as several chapters in edited volumes and policy-relevant articles.
