Lecture on UNU-CRIS and the Sustainable Development Goals at the University College Howest, Bruges and Kortrijk

22 February 2023

On Wednesday 22 February 2023, UNU-CRIS Brussels Campus Coordinator Anthony Antoine will give a guest lecture at the Bruges campus of the University College HOWEST. In the three-and-a-half-hour lecture, Anthony will explain the working of the United Nations and its constituting bodies and will provide the students with an overview of the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing in particular on SDG 13 (climate action) and - given the current Ukrainian crisis - SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Covering different policy levels, the lecture also explains the structure and functioning of the European Union and its different legislative components (Commission, Council, Parliament, etc.).

The guest lecture is part of the exam assignment for the senior (third year) students of the Bachelor Social Work of the College (class of prof. Arent Maes), and links are made with the curriculum of the programme where employment, social cohesion, migration, health, culture and poverty are key constitutional elements.

As HOWEST consists of different campuses, the lecture will be also given in Kortrijk on Wednesday 1 March 2023.
