Lecture by UNU-CRIS on World Water Day and Upcoming Session on Water-Gender Nexus
On the occasion of World Water Day 2023, Nidhi Nagabhatla delivered an online lecture entitled ‘Gender and SDGs’: Is this agenda influencing norms and perceptions ? to more than 500 engineering students at foremost engineering institute of India, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. The lecture was organised by Prof Anamika Barua, Professor( (Ecological Economics) and Dean of Students' Affairs.
In her talk, Nidhi focused on the water and gender research conducted by UNU’s and UN agencies and emphasised on the need for gender mainstreaming while implementing the SDGs, highlighting with data and examples why gender equality is important to achieve SDGs.
