Nidhi Nagabhatla at the One Day Symposium on Bridging Knowledge Systems for Climate-Resilient Agriculture in the Ganga Basin- Integrating Indigenous Knowledge & Modern Practices

In a vibrant start to the new year, UNU CRIS’s Nature, Climate and Health cluster will co-organise the event "Symposium: Bridging Knowledge Systems for Ganga Basin Agri-Resilience – Integrating Indigenous & Modern Practices." Scheduled for January 6, 2026, in New Delhi, India, the event aims to highlight collaborative innovation for sustainable agriculture in the face of water scarcity, soil degradation, and climate vulnerability in the Ganga Basin region.
"By bridging indigenous practices with modern science and innovation, the region can tackle Ganga Basin challenges head-on, promoting food security, biodiversity, and human wellbeing," adds Dr Nidhi Nagabhata, who will be representing UNU CRIS in this event. The discussions will explore integrated water-soil management and scalable models for the basin's agrarian region, aligning with SDGs 2, 13, and 15.
This flagship event signals a joint commitment to #ForNature&WellBeing, inviting policymakers, researchers, farmers, and indigenous leaders to co-create actionable pathways. With the Ganga Basin feeding millions, such collaborations herald a resilient, nature-positive future.
