The aim of this event is to facilitate a debate about the dynamics of regional security governance in different parts of Africa in a context of the evolving multi-facetted relationship between European and African actors. These actors include national governments, the European Union (EU), the African Union (AU), African subregional security organisations and ad hoc coalitions. Following the AU-EU summit in February 2022 and against a backdrop of an escalating unease about European engagements in conflicts on the African continent, the event brings together academics, policy makers and political observers to explore the challenges and opportunities for regional security cooperation.
