UNU CRIS contributes to the '2023 International University for Intercultural Leadership Programme
Dr. Nidhi Nagabhatla was honored to deliver two captivating lectures at the prestigious '2023 International University for Intercultural Leadership' training program held at Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul. This training program, organized by Project Aladdin and supported by UNESCO, brought together over 60 students from diverse regions around the globe, aiming to nurture their intercultural competencies and delve into critical topics in international affairs.
Invited by Executive Director Mr. Abe Radkin of Project Aladdin, Dr. Nidhi contributed to the program, themed "How Natural Disasters and Ecological Challenges Impact a Fractured World,"
During her first lecture, titled 'Climate Security and Migration,' Dr. Nagabhatla adeptly elucidated the intricate and multi-dimensional relationships between climate, water crises, conflicts, and migration. Her presentation was rooted in extensive research and data, leveraging knowledge from academic literature, media, and development reports. She emphasized how such knowledge is instrumental in comprehending migration drivers, impacts, and challenges, ultimately paving the way for long-term solutions and enhanced migration management capabilities, particularly in disaster-prone, water-scarce, and climate-affected regions.
In the second lecture, titled 'Towards Water Security for All,' Nidhi expertly explored the UN-Water's (2013) conceptual framework on water security, providing empirical insights into how different regions and nations operationalize this framework within their unique contexts and settings.
Her contributions to the training program enriched the participants' understanding of pressing global issues and inspired them to embark on the path of intercultural leadership and positive change.
